Places of interest

The area covered by this brochure contains a number of places of interest we recommend you consider visiting. The natural environment of Warringah is significant.  Places of interest include the four lagoons, Long Reef headland, the rock shelves below Long Reef Point and McKillop Park (Queenscliff Bay), and above the Park the statue of Duke Kahanamoku, who helped introduce surfboard riding to Australia in 1914 (F8).

Other features include the cliff-top pathways, the sense of isolation along sections of the beaches, the foreshores of Narrabeen Lakes, Allenby Park (C6), the panoramic views from Governor Phillip lookout (Beacon Hill Reserve) (D5), the tranquil bushland of Manly Dam Reserve and the revegetated green link corridors.  Note also the distant view of the Baha’i Temple (1961) appearing unexpectedly on the northwest horizon.

Garigal National Park includes the Slippery Dip track from Deep Creek (D1) and the Harbour to Hawkesbury track (A7).  See www.environment.nsw.gov.au and click on Visiting a park.
